Type of Questions in Parliament
There can be three types of questions in
the parliament
>>Starred questions
>>Unstarred questions
>>Short notice questions
# Starred questions:
Starred questions are answered orally in the House. The members can ask supplementary questions in reference to the reply.
# Unstarred questions:
Unstarred questions are responded with written answers which are tabled in the house. Supplementary questions are not entertained for these questions.
# Short notice questions:
These questions are generally of public importance and urgent in nature, hence the name ‘short-notice’. Such questions are answered orally.
The Secretariat of Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha extends at least five days notice to the Minister concerned to answer a question. However, advance intimation of
the question may be intimated to give more time for preparing an answer to a question.
Replies to the questions are sent to the Secretariat of Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha. The replies are to be sent one day prior to the due date of the answer.
